At around 3:30pm this afternoon (1/2/2018) a sprinkler pipe burst in the computer lab on the 1st floor SE corner of the Mondale Library. We believe the cold weather caused this event. A significant amount of water was released before we could turn the water off. We have custodial& maintenance crews from WB and SP staff assisting in the clean up. They are doing a fantastic job from keeping the impact to a minimum.
Outside contractor, Mavo has been dispatched to assist with additional water collection and making sure the space is properly cleaned and dried to keep any contamination from setting in.
Nasseff sprinkler fitters are scheduled to come out right away in the morning to work on the sprinkler piping.
OCM & Garrett Howe from Mondale were onsite and have an idea of the areas affected.

Neil Carlson from UHS responded Wed. morning to assess any other air quality and surface concerns that could arise from the damage.
FM/UHS/LIbrary staff/Mavo decisions:
Additional power needed for work - FM electricians to assist
The carpet will be removed in wet areas. Library staff will remove the lower two shelves of book stacks to allow Mavo to remove carpet at the base of book stacks. It will not be replaced:
Exposed concrete and area under the bookshelves will be open for a week to allow moisture to escape from concrete.
Water inside sub-floor electrical and cable ducts will be dried out and assessed by electricians.
