At 1:20 am UMPD sent out a text message regarding a water leak at Civil Engineering.  UMPD and MFD responded.  Michelle Murray coordinated the FM response.  Neil Carlson, DEHS.

Piping related to the building fire suppression began to leak somewhere above grade level on the western most tip of the Civil Engineering Building.

Water to the building was shut off.

Water flowed from grade down to 7th floor.  Most of the water damage was on the 7th floor with minor damage to carpet, sheetrock and ceiling tiles(6th) on other floors.

7th floor Shaft filled with water.  Water level is 2/3rds up window at 2am.
Water is streaming out of the block wall.
Water level in 7th floor viewing shaft at approximately 5am.
A viewing shaft on the 7th floor filled with water and leaked out two  holes in the block wall.

6th floor water damaged ceiling tiles.
7th floor water damaged sheetrock ceiling above entrance to 790 suite.

The room 790 suites sustained extensive water damage.  Furniture removal will be needed. Some areas of water damaged  sheetrock were marked.  Items on the floor were water damaged.  Portions of the ceiling on the 7th floor were water damaged.

FM response truck attempted to pull water from the 7th floor but did not have sufficient suction.  Mavo systems was contacted and Rick Goodmanson arrived on the scene.  Clean Response was waved off as FM had the situation under control.  Mavo is available if needed.  It appears that FM will be able to handle it.

On 6th floor the temperature of the shaft was 32 degrees.
