Notes from Greg Casura
At approximately 4pm on 1/3/14, AHERPS was paged to respond to a flood from a broken sprinkler pipe on first floor, west side, Bio. Science, St. Paul. Upon arrival water had covered the first floor and 2/3rds of the basement level. Two distinct breaks in the sprinkler system was found on the first floor west corridor. Sprinkler system was capped at the south end of the first floor hallway. All emergency systems, except card access, was brought back on line Friday night. Elevators were checked and approved for use late Friday night. MAVO and FM custodial (Shannon) was on scene to clean up the facility. Jane Phillips was on scene and she checked all animal areas.
Responders were Janet Dalgleish, David Paulu and Greg Casura. Krysta Reuter covered DEM's role.
Main concerns from our 7am meeting today, 1/6/14, is the cool temperatures in the first floor west hall, some smaller areas that are still wet. Floor tiles on both levels that are curling and finally the condition of the spay on fire proofing in the first floor hallway and mechanical space on the lower level.
Additional floor plans and photos to follow.
I also am in possession of one part of the broke sprinkler fitting that froze.
Thanks for the fast response!!! I believe it was a very good team effort to minimize additional damage to the facility
