Carlson School of Management Water event Feb.1 2019

Second floor north vestibule entrance to Carlson School of Management
Morning pipe freeze/thaw leak in north vestibule affecting that floor and a small area below the water leak at the bottom of the stairs. Carpet and sheetrock affected.  Office space relocation during remediation and drying. Non- U person delivering balloons broke arm when falling on ice and ignoring caution tape.

Concern about egress to North Entrance
Offices on the first floor and lower level were affected.  The walls were opened up with holes and dried on February 1, 2019.  The carpet was extracted and dried.  Additional areas of water damage were noted on February 4, 2019.  These areas were either dried or removed under controlled abatement. The carpet squares dried out over the weekend and at this time will not need to be removed. This due to both the quick extraction and drying and the low humidity in the space assisted.

After build back, the carpet will be re-cleaned. DEHS will follow-up with surface mold sampling of the carpet to assure that cleaning was effective.

Mold growth inside wall cavity outside 1-110

Growth of Alternaria spp on inside wall cavity

Possible pre-existing growth noted on a small section of wall in hallway near the northwest end of 1-110.  Minor abatement may be needed inside file room of 1-110.
