TSB sewer back up toilet room 115 TSB Bldg#103

8:50 am DEHS was notified of a sewage backup at TSB in a restroom 115 in TSB.  The carpet in the adjacent hallway was wet. It had been recently disinfected by FM custodial staff.

9:00 am Mike Buck and Neil Carlson, DEHS responded.  The area had an odor of sewage.  3M ATP swabs of the wet carpet found levels above 6000 RLU's .  A control sample of dry carpet in the area was at 1,500 RLU's.  The carpet wall base cove was removed.  The wet area of carpet was marked off using a IR camera for guidance.  The sheetrock walls had slight water damage.

DEHS contact FM Custodial Supervisor, Brian Heller 612-626-6337.  The bathroom floor will be decontaminated.  The hallway carpet will be removed.  The floor under the carpet will be decontaminated.

During the assessment and FM custodian came to clean the floors.  She only had water and no disinfectant.  She stated that cleaning floors with only water was now the approved procedure for this building.  We had her contact Brian Heller for direction about  disinfectant for the rest room floor. She will be using 3M product #25, the same product will be used to clean the bare floor under the carpet.  DEHS has some concern that only water is used for cleaning bathroom floors.

The new carpet base cove can be installed on Monday after the wall has had time to dry out.
