Boynton Health Service water event November 24, 2014 - Bldg 070
At approx. 1420 a fresh water pipe to a toilet on the southwest corner of the fourth floor of Boynton Health Service burst.
Water affected the South 1/3rd of the West wing of the building from floors 1 through 4. Clinic, office and maintenance areas were affected. Potable water to that end of the building has been shut off. The service elevator T044 is down. Water damage caused smoke to be released from elevator. MFD responded and left.
Offices contacted: Risk Management, DEM, UMPD, Elevator shop, plumbing.
Asbestos survey for the area looks good. BHS employees are removing water damaged ceiling tiles.
Mavo Systems and Clean response are on the scene extracting the water. They will continue to extract carpet and dry walls through the night. They will remove equipment in time for the building to be occupied on Tuesday morning by 7:30am.
The water has been shut off to a single bathroom stack on the Southwest end of Boynton Health Service. Potable water is now restored to the rest of the building. Boynton will be open for business Tuesday morning.
