Christensen Hall building # 396 mechanical room water event March 16 - 27, 2014.

Partially pumped out lower level mechanical space - G. Williams

Water damaged lower level of mechanical space - dried
At 23:32 on 3/26/2014 UMPD dispatch reported three inches of standing water in the basement mechanical space of Christensen Lab.  DEHS AHERPS called in and indicated someone would check it in the am.  This report did not include the 3 to 4 feet of standing water in the lower space.

Van Anh Thai, DEHS responded to UMPD.  She contacted Gary (612-291-1139) who was on site at the time to obtain more info.  Apparently an incoming water line broke and discharged clean water into the Mechanical Room.  It was estimated that there was about 3 inches of standing water.  She told Gary to go ahead and pump the water out and discharge it into the sanitary sewer. She told him to use a drain/cleanout located inside the building as a discharge point.

New four inch water line NW corner of mechanical space
Workers have been installing a new water line connection, and Gary thought that the line broke at the welding spot.

Water line in lower level was at the midpoint of the filter on the tank in the left center of the room.

A note below the red label to the right of the fire panel indicates the high water mark on the lower level
The building is on fire watch until the fire panel can be restored.

FM asbestos arrived at around 08:30 on March 27, 2014.  Suspected pipe insulation was sampled for asbestos.  Results will be available later on March 27, 2014.

Damp filter inside SUP002
The filters in the air handling unit on the upper level were all damp.  FM will be replacing these filters and vacuuming out the water from the air handling unit and the outside air intake.
