June 11, 2013

Water Leak Vet Science Library on the evening of June 11, 2013. Person (4-1529) called stated there is a water leak in building 374 on the 4th floor, which the whole floor is a library. Right now the water leak is in the hallway but they are concerned it may reach the books; Ted Fasbender and Geriand Cook were informed of the leak. At 18:13 Geriand reported that SUP009's drain was plugged causing the leak, unplugged and draining. He stated that some of the books may have been damaged from the water even though library workers had tried to cover them with plastic.  - BSAC report

Followup Neil Carlson approx. 2pm June 12, 2013:  The books are not water damaged. The library staff did an excellent job of removing the books from the top and bottom shelves and covering the books with plastic. Several sections of the ceiling have water damage.  These areas were marked by DEHS. FM is working on a fix to the water leak problem for SUP009.  FM Haz Mat was notified.

There are additional problems with fungal growth on supply air diffusers. Duct cleaning and a check of the humidity control in the space are needed.
